Mizrahim

The film is built around a family story spanning three generations: my father, who experienced years of struggle; myself, returning to uncover the current state of the country; and my daughter, who will portray my childhood memories and my wounds—the wounds of an exile from the Promised Land. Today, my daughter is seven years old, the same age I was when I left Israel.

Through this journey into the heart of the periphery, we will meet men and women—most of them Mizrahi—who will share their personal experiences and their intimate political and social thoughts in monologues to the camera.

The film will be punctuated by back-and-forth movements in and out of the family story, shifting between Israel and France. The narrative will be revealed through the complex gaze imposed by exile. Visually, this will be translated into the journeys undertaken and the sweet, melancholic music that haunted us in France.
